BatDog Trial Program
BatDog is a small wearable device that helps blind dogs navigate using echolocation. It emits ultrasonic chirps that reflect off obstacles — the dog's own hearing does the rest. No surgery, no training required. The dog's brain figures it out.
We're looking for 3 or 4 dogs to take part in an initial trial. If it works, you keep the unit.
What we're looking for
- A blind or severely visually impaired dog of any size
- Prepared to come to Northamptoshire.
- Willing to meet for one or more short outdoor sessions
- Prepared to give honest feedback — good or bad
- Dogs with very short muzzles (brachycephalic breeds — pugs, bulldogs, boxers etc.) are not suitable for this initial trial. We're working on a solution for these breeds.
What's involved
- One or more sessions at an outdoor location in Northamptonshire (enclosed, safe)
- You walk with your dog as normal while wearing the device
- We observe and record
- Sessions are short — likely under an hour
What you get
- No cost, no obligation
- If the trial goes well, you keep the unit
- You'll be part of something that could genuinely help blind dogs everywhere
